God created

I recently came across a great article on the Christian Today site where Nathanael Yates says "as a Christian it doesn't matter to me whether the Earth, and all that is in it, was created by a process of evolution or creation." Then he expands upon the subject.
The nub, gist and crux of the matter he summed up as; Is God the creator of the universe?" To this question certainly all Christians must agree." It is so refreshing to find this opinion on a Christians site and he has expressed my feelings so well. God created the heavens and the earth, as the very first verse in the bible says. That's great, well done God, good for him.
It is completely immaterial to me as to HOW he achieved this. Who are we to put limits on how he can work, to tell him how to go about his task?
While I personally don't believe that evolution could proceed to create human beings from "primordial ooze", if this was somehow proven to be the case I would not lose my faith. I would just accept that God works in mysterious ways and I am getting used to being wrong.
I don't know how this has come to be such a debate within churches, but as Nathanael says it has caused a great deal of discussion, deliberation and even division within Christian communities.
When we get caught up in debates and discussions about evolution are we drawn closer to God and to loving our neighbour? Jesus said those two things were the most important and all the rules and laws were contained within them.
It does look like this debate has been used by the great accuser to cause trouble, to draw the attention away from what really matters.
I wonder if we should worry less about HOW God created the earth, and focus on what we do agree on; that he did. For Nathanael's full article click on the link below here, its very interesting.
