Church Review: Hawera Presbyterian; St Johns
Recently I visited Hawera Presbyterian church, St Johns.
The visit was nice, I reconnected with God (it was my first visit to a church in several months) and I had some moments of complete peace and that amazing feeling of wellbeing you get when you feel at one with the creator.
Positives:
Felt the presence of God
Felt very welcome
Enjoyed the pastor (funny, practical and knowledgeable)
Enjoyed the worship
Quite a few people in my age group
I liked that the pastor checked the "word" when an unknown person spoke
Gifts of Spirit evident and in practice
Women speaking as well as men
Negatives:
Music a little off key at times
Written notices hard to follow
No one spoke to me before or after the service
Overall it was a lovely visit but I didn't feel like it was quite the right fit for me. I did like their website and found it very easy to look at and get a good idea of what was going on in church life.
